Symptoms and Complications
Ebola target the blood and the immune system (the infected person), which can cause bleeding and depress the immune system. After an incubation period (time from infection to onset of symptoms) for 2-21 days, the characteristic manifestations of the disease Ebola are quick installation similar to flu symptoms, or :
fever,
headache,
muscle pain,
sore throat,
weakness.
Subsequently, many patients will have:
diarrhea,
rash similar to measles,
a liver and kidney,
vomiting.
Four or five days after the onset of symptoms between 30 and 50% of people will have internal and external bleeding. Although some people die from shock caused by the failure of multiple organs, most victims of Ebola die from severe dehydration caused by diarrhea and vomiting.
During outbreaks, people at greater risk of contracting viral infection are health care workers as well as family members and friends of the infected person have close contact with that person.
